Eine Zeitreise, 26 Jahre zurück in die Vergangenheit

Während meines einjährigen Praktikums in einer renommierten Jewelry Company arbeitete und lebte ich in New York. 365 Tage zu kurz, um diese Stadt zu verstehen. Aber lang genug, sich in sie zu verlieben. Ich stürzte mich in diese Affäre und wollte alles über diese Stadt wissen und erfahren. Die Kamera war mein stetiger Begleiter, und so entdeckte ich die Fotografie für mich. So sind unzählige S/W Filme und Dias entstanden. Vieles ist in Vergessenheit geraten oder existiert nicht mehr. Ich öffnete das Zeitfenster der Vergangenheit und ließ die Inspiration der Gegenwart hinein. Begegnet sind sich Fotografie, Malerei und Schmuckgestaltung, die eine Geschichte erzählen, die nie vergessen war. Alles hat seinen bestimmten Moment, um in Erscheinung zu treten. Denn was sich aus der Vergangenheit in das Hier und Jetzt begibt, beginnt von dieser Reise zu erzählen.

Exploring the contrast between New York “as it was” and “as it is” is a powerful theme. I endeavor to portray my inspiration of a nostalgic past, to bring an essence of change into a dynamic present. Throughout my artistic time between 1996-97 when I lived and worked in New York City, I captured moments through my camera. It was a time capsule, preserving memories before they faded away. All these pictures and slides in black and white or color I kept for all these years and they finally needed to be shown.
Now, after so many years ago, I found the opportunity to create something new, and this impulse came from the past. I built a bridge with my skills and that allowed me to combine jewellery, painting and photography. To join these three aspects was a reconnection with my history in New York City. It was really powerful to transform these memories into a tangible form that is even wearable through a piece of jewellery. This allowed me to be creative and free in different ways and to present a new narrative of my personality. It is also a beautiful way to honor and bring to life these moments that shaped me and still have a precious meaning in my life and work.
